As the highly contagious Omicron Covid-19 variant sweeps across Ipswich infecting over 2000 residents, five suburbs are quickly becoming hot spots with over 100 cases recorded.
Redbank Plains has recorded the highest number of cases with 428 residents infected with Covid-19 between December 13 and January 4, which seems to be Queensland’s fastest growing cluster to date.
The nearby suburb of Redbank and Collingwood has 141 cases, Springfield Lakes has 126, Goodna has 119, and the fast growing suburb of Ripley has 102 cases.
As of Friday morning January 7, Ipswich’s Covid-19 cases rose to 2517.
Of those cases 2,371 are being investigated with 108 being acquired locally, 32 from overseas arrivals, and two interstate travellers.
Since December 28 the number of cases from overseas and interstate travellers has not risen.
There’s an interactive chart below based on Queensland Government data which shows how many cases are in each suburb across Queensland.
The data was compiled on Thursday, January 6, so it is likely there are now more cases across the region as the virus is spreading rapidly throughout the community.
