A young Ipswich man was arrested for breaching a domestic violence order against his elderly grandmother after subjecting the woman to horrid verbal abuse.
The man in his 20s cannot legally be named to protect the identity of his victim.
The man was placed on a suspended prison sentence in May 2021 after he attacked the 72-year-old.
Magistrate Robert Walker said the man later raged at his grandmother over the phone after his request for money went unanswered.
“I’m going to kill you,” the man screamed.
Magistrate Walker said his threats were deplorable and his nana deserved to be treated with the utmost respect.
The court heard the man also breached conditions of his bail by not reporting his new place of residence and he was arrested in October 2021.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Bridie O’Shea said the man showed blatant disregard for court orders and noted his behaviour was drug fuelled.
The young man pleaded guilty to breaching his bail and two charges of contravening a domestic violence order as an aggravated offence.
The man served 88 days in pre-sentence custody which was declared and considered a just punishment for his crimes.
The man was eligible for parole imminently as of Tuesday, January 18.
