Queensland Times chatted with Cassandra Renee Hutchins from Beauty In The Heights about the people behind the business and what makes them the local favourite.

Q: How does it feel to be voted as the best lash technician in your area, and what are the secrets to being a great lash technician?

Cassandra Renee Hutchins: Honestly it is a very good feeling knowing I have a lot of support and amazing client's who really appreciate my work and believe I deserve this.

Q: Walk us through what the process typically looks like from first meeting a client to the lashes being finished?

Cassandra Renee Hutchins: When you first meet a client you spend some time with them to understand their wants and desires when it comes to lash extensions, You run through some paperwork with them so they understand the dos and don'ts and also any health issues or reactions they possible could have. You then obviously check their lashes for any damages or strains on the lashes which would prohibit the lash extensions. For example if a client have thin lashes you got to make sure you don't have heavy or overly long lashes added to your normal lash itself. Once that it all discussed and its okay to proceed, you continue to clean lashes,put pads under the eyes, prime the lashes and then you can start the process of extensions. Once it's completed showing the client's their new lashes is my most favourite part. It's seeing the difference lashes can make or the smile on their faces and how beautiful they feel thanks to yourself.

Q: What lashes have you done that stick out as being particularly memorable or challenging?

Cassandra Renee Hutchins: My most memorable set is my 14D Set which can also be classed as mega Volume. Only certain people and eye shapes can pull them off and this one particular person is absolutely stunning in them.

Q: How has your work and the industry as a whole evolved over time, and what are the newest trends and innovations in the industry currently?

Cassandra Renee Hutchins: Lash extensions have definitely evolved a lot over the last several years. It have definitely become a trend having extensions but also learning to be a lash technician as well. Beauty in itself has evolved so much and it is great to see. Beauty can definitely make you feel good about yourself and that's what most lash tech love providing. Their are so many trends with extensions, it's hard to choose from because It's forever changing for eg. You have colour extensions or decals now just to add some extra style to make them pop.

Q: What sets you apart from other lash technicians, and what are your secrets to great lashes?

Cassandra Renee Hutchins: I think what sets me apart from most lash technicians is I'm all about the client's. Its making sure they receive the service they have asked for, and doing it to a high standard, keeping in mind for their health and safety as a priority. It making them feel comfortable and confident in you 100% because you are touching and playing around people's eyes and that is an extremely important part of someone's well being.

Q: What are the ways that you ensure longevity in your clients' lashes and that they continue looking great?

Cassandra Renee Hutchins: Building a good strong connection with my client's and making them feel like their not just another person is how I keep my regular client's. It continue making sure your meeting their expectations and providing the same high standards of work every single time.

Q: What would be your advice for someone looking to start out in the industry?

Cassandra Renee Hutchins: It can be a very rewarding industry as long as you put in the hard work, continually putting yourself out their and putting the client's first, you can succeed at it.
