The shocked mother of two children sleeping in a Redbank home when a stolen Porsche crashed into their bedroom and burst into flames has recounted the horror show that unfolded in the early hours of this morning.
The shocking series of events unfolded around 3am on Bloodwood Place as two children, both under the age of 10, slept in a bedroom when the stolen luxury car slammed through the home’s front fence and then through the brick wall of the home — just metres from their bed.
Fortunately, the children’s father was also sleeping in the room and was able to remove the children from the room quickly.
The children’s mother said the alleged car thief chose to run instead of checking on the occupants of the home.
“Someone could have been killed and they didn’t care at all, they just took off without even checking,” she said.
Queensland police said the car was stolen from Bridgeman Downs overnight and initial investigations suggested three people fled the scene.
The incident comes a day after a serious crash further west of Ipswich at Brightview, where a Mazda CX-9, allegedly stolen from Clayfield, crashed into a rural fence and burst into flames, leaving three teenagers in critical conditions. Investigations into that crash are ongoing.
“Three residents of the house sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization,” a spokesperson sai, with regards to the incident involving the Porsche.
“The occupants of the vehicle fled the scene following the collision and investigations are ongoing to locate them.”
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesman said the engine of the car caught fire but it was quickly contained.
Builders inspecting the scene today feared the damage may result in the home being demolished, saying about 10 tonnes of bricks were crumpled or shifted during impact.
Ipswich police investigations are ongoing.
