UPDATE: Three men have been charged after leading police on a car chase during the early hours of the morning.

Police were conducting patrols on Friday when they noticed an alleged stolen vehicle being driven in Brassall.

They followed the vehicle and it failed to stop when marked police attempted to intercept it at the intersection of the Cunningham Hwy and Middle Rd at Purga.

Police successfully deployed tyre deflation devices but the vehicle continued to be driven with three deflated tyres - including on the incorrect side of the road.

It is further alleged the three men threw items including a hockey stick and knives at pursuing police vehicles.

Police managed to stop the vehicle shortly after 2pm on the Ipswich Motorway at Redbank where three men were arrested.

Brassall man Alex Gatt, 17, was charged with dangerous driving while adversely affected, failing to provide a blood test and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He was also charged with failing to stop when directed.

Leichhardt men Samuel Midgley, 21, and Matthew Kennewell, 17, were charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

All three men appeared on Friday in Ipswich Magistrates Court.

Midgley pleaded guilty to his offence and was subsequently placed on a 12-month probation order.

Mr Gatt and Mr Kennewell did not make an application for bail and were remanded into custody. Mr Kennewell's case was adjourned to December 14 while Mr Gatt's case will be back before the court on January 12.

EARLIER: Three men in a stolen car are alleged to have hurled knives and a hockey stick at police as they were chased down the Cunningham Highway overnight.

The pursuit began a short time after an unmarked service vehicle first sighted the stolen vehicle at Brassall about 1.10am, following it.

Later in the morning, a marked police car tried to intercept the suspect vehicle at the intersection of the Cunningham Hwy and Middle Rd, Puga.

Police used a stinger on the vehicle, but it continued to drive along the Cunningham Hwy, at slow speed, with three flat tyres.

It will be alleged that the occupants of the vehicle then tossed items including a hockey stick and knives out the window at pursuing police vehicles.

The stolen car was eventually pulled over on the Ipswich Motorway, with three men taken into cutody.

A 17-year-old Brassall man was charged with one count each of failing to stop, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while adversely affected by an intoxicated substance, failing to provide a required blood test and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Two Leichhardt men, aged 17 and 21 were charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The trio is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
