A MAN who been charged with possession of illegal shotguns and drugs, as well as theft and breaking and entering, has been refused bail.
Kerry Allan Hall, 37, appeared in Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday, facing more than two dozen charges for weapons, drugs, theft and burglary offences.
He has been charged with illegally possessing three guns, ammunition, a magazine for a semi-automatic or pump action gun, five counts of failing to appear in court, one count of unauthorised use of a motor vehicle, as well as possession of drugs, drug utensils and several theft and break and enter offences.
Two of the guns he is charged with having illegally were double barrelled shotguns, one of which is also tainted property, as well as a small calibre rifle.
The drug charges he is facing include the possession of marijuana, a water pipe and a stove top used in the commission of a crime.
Hall was taken into the court house in handcuffs after police told the magistrate he could pose a security risk to the court following his behaviour in the watchhouse.
Before applying for bail, Hall pleaded guilty to the five counts of failing to appear in court.
From the dock he told the court he failed to appear as he believed his lawyer would be appearing for him.
He said he had only recently learnt he didn't have any lawyer acting on his behalf.
He initially told the magistrate he could "show cause" for not appearing, which the magistrate said was inconsistent with his plea of guilty.
The court heard Hall had 10 pages of court history.
When initially pleading guilty to the charges of failing to appear, he told the court he had been reporting to the Laidley police station every day, in accordance with his bail conditions.
Hall was remanded in custody and is set to reappear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on August 23.
