Low temperatures and gusty winds did little to keep runners, walkers and obstacle course enthusiasts from the city’s biggest annual fun run.

Thousands of participants packed out parks across Ipswich on Sunday morning for the 17th annual Ipswich Hospital Foundation Park2Park 2021.

Hospital Foundation CEO James Sturges said he was overwhelmed by the community’s response.

“We were a little concerned about the COVID-19 restrictions throughout the year and on event day but it didn’t stop Park2Park or participants from having a great time to support a great local cause,” Mr Sturges said.

“2021 has been a record year for the number and size of teams we’ve had register so far with total participation being comparative with previous years.”

Participants were able to join a half marathon, half marathon team relay, 10km, 5km or mascot marathon to help raise funds for local medical research.

A virtual event is still running, giving people the opportunity to participate from anywhere in the world until next Saturday.

To register for the virtual event or to donate, visit the website.
