Dad of two Andrew Boyle asked a stranger to rate his penis

A Lockyer Valley father had shown ‘worsening behaviour’ by exposing his penis to two women in separate late night encounters in Fortitude Valley.

Laidley father Andrew Paul Boyle pleaded guilty to multiple charges in Ipswich Magistrates Court.
Laidley father Andrew Paul Boyle pleaded guilty to multiple charges in Ipswich Magistrates Court.

A country dad with a worrying tendency to expose and fondle his penis in front of female strangers, scored a six out of 10 on its rating while flashing it to an alarmed Brisbane woman.

When Andrew Boyle exposed his penis to the woman walking back to her hotel at 2am from Fortitude Valley, he demanded that she “give it a score” or he would continue to follow her.

The young woman scored it a six in a desperate attempt to get rid of the pest, Ipswich Magistrates Court heard.

Boyle appeared from jail via video-link for sentence and prosecutor Sergeant Chris O’Neill detailed his prior convictions for wilful exposure, saying the offender was “at it again”.

Andrew Paul Boyle, 40, a father of two from Laidley, pleaded guilty to unlawful stalking of a female in Fortitude Valley on February 15; committing an indecent act in public on St Paul‘s Terrace, Fortitude Valley; committing an indecent act on October 31; and possession of the dangerous drug cannabis on February 15.

He also pleaded guilty to an unrelated domestic violence charge of assault causing bodily harm.

Putting the charges in context with his criminal history, Sergeant O’Neill said Boyle had been convicted of similar offences in 2015 when he exposed his penis to a woman in a car and began masturbating when she was stopped in Brisbane city traffic.

Another prior conviction in Brisbane Magistrates Court resulted after he followed a woman in a grocery store, lowered his pants, showed his penis and began masturbating.

Sergeant O’Neill said that of the charges before the court the domestic violence assaults were regarded as being the most serious.

He said it would have been terrifying to the woman involved as it was prolonged conduct over several days in September last year and involved violence.

Sergeant O’Neill said his conduct had been threatening, degrading and included name calling.

Police sought a jail order of 12 to 18 months for the domestic violence offence.

The indecent act in October involved Boyle asking directions from a woman.

When she came over to his car she saw he was naked below the waist and fondling his penis.

Defence lawyer David Rawnsley argued for no more than a sentence of 15 months, with immediate parole release because of time already served in custody of nearly seven months.

He said there had been no violence when he exposed his penis.

Mr Rawnsley said Boyle’s time in jail had been made worse because he suffers tinnitus with constant ringing in his ears and the noisy jail environment.

“His ears have been ringing like crazy with all the yelling in there,” he said.

Magistrate Andy Cridland said Boyle in one incident of domestic violence had grabbed a woman’s face around the mouth and would not let go.

He also caused pain when he grabbed her by the throat.

Mr Cridland said that when he followed the woman in his car late at night asking her to rate his penis, it was stalking.

“Your behaviour seems to be getting worse,” he said.

For the domestic violence assault causing bodily harm he received a 15-month jail order.

For stalking and the two indecent acts he received six months jail – all concurrent sentences.

With time served he was granted immediate parole release.
