It has been a while between drinks for the major Ipswich Crimestoppers committee annual fundraiser.
Last year’s cancellation means this year’s Crimestoppers Race Day at Ipswich Turf Club will come as a particularly big boost to the local volunteer committee, which is in charge of keeping the vital crime reporting service operating.
Featuring seven races, the popular event is also an important social outing for the region’s police – a large contingent of which will be out to support the day.
Ipswich Crime Prevention Sergeant Nadine Webster said the theme for the race day – set down for Friday, August 13 – was Black Friday.
“It’s a really good social day that also raises funds and awareness for Crime Stoppers,” Sgt Webster said.
The race day also features a Fashions on the Field event which will encourage entrants to go along with the Black Friday theme.
The crowd will be separated into two settings this year to help keep it in line with Covid precautions, which will hopefully be relaxed by the time August 13 comes around.
Gates open 11.30am on the day.
