Car crash closes Raceview Road, Ipswich

Police have charged a young Ipswich man after a serious two-vehicle crash left a man in a critical condition, west of Brisbane.

Police have charged a man following a serious two-vehicle crash west of Brisbane on Tuesday that left a man in a critical condition.

Initial police investigations indicate shortly after 12.30pm a blue Nissan Patrol and a maroon Holden Commodore collided at the intersection of Esther St and Brisbane Rd.

The forensic crash unit and four ambulance vehicles were on the scene, with incident causing major delays.

The driver and sole occupant of the Holden Commodore, a 62-year-old Collingwood Park man, was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

He is understood to have suffered serious chest and head injuries.

The driver and sole occupant of the Nissan Patrol, a 25-year-old Riverview man, was not physically injured.

Police have charged the 25-year-old man with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.

He has been granted bail and is expected to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on July 26.

The Ipswich Forensic Crash Unit continues to appeal for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam vision from the area around the time of the incident to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
