‘Ipswich’s best Indian restaurant’ will reopen today with a new look — but the same staff and top-quality food — following a two-year hiatus.

Punjabeez Indian Restaurant will open the doors to its new location at 320 Old Logan Rd, Camira at 5pm on Friday June 17.

It comes nearly two years after owner Jaggi Singh closed the restaurant’s original Springfield location due to a series of “ups and downs”.

“We had to move out, then we went to Booval, then we came back to Springfield,” Mr Singh said.

“Then we went to Highgate Hill and opened another (restaurant) in Hendra.

“Now we’ve found something at a good location for a reasonable price in Camira.”

Mr Singh opened his first Indian restaurant at Springfield in 2014, gaining business sponsorship so his family would qualify for permanent residency and be allowed to stay in Australia.

The high-quality food quickly became a staple among locals.

“The local community, local people, are really supportive,” Mr Singh said.

“We were voted the best Indian (restaurant) in Ipswich on Menulog in 2018 and 2019.”

Mr Singh assured the same chef who earned Punjabeez the prestigious title of “best Indian” in Ipswich would be servicing the Camira community come Friday.

The new restaurant will offer a variety of dishes originating from Indian regions, including chicken tikka, naan, palak paneer, biryani, and samosas.

“Our experienced chefs use only the freshest ingredients to create dishes that will tantalise your tastebuds,” Mr Singh stated on his website.

At this stage, Punjabeez is only offering a pick-up takeaway service. Customers can place an order online, via Punabeez’ website, or over the phone on 07 3521 4911.

The store will be open between 4pm and 9pm from Monday to Friday and between 5pm and 9pm Saturday and Sunday.
