EMERGING supermarket giant Aldi has been confirmed to pick up where IGA left off at one of Ipswich's busiest shopping centres.

The German discounter will open its sixth Ipswich store at Brassall Shopping Centre, following the departure of IGA over the weekend.

Aldi already has stores at Riverlink, Booval, Redbank, Yamanto and Springfield.

An Aldi Australia spokesperson said the company was looking forward to seeing the new Brassall supermarket operating in the first half of next year.

"The store will follow ALDI's new format, with redesigned shelving and expanded wooden produce bays, as well as energy efficient LED lighting and chillers. It will also have sleek signage and point of sale displays."
