FOUR volunteers, eight Bunnings workers and more than 100L of paint are transforming the new Lowood SES headquarters.
The new base of operations is being painted with materials and labour provided by Bunnings Warehouses across the region.
Lowood SES local controller Andy Bickerton said the offer for help had been made by Bunnings when the flood hit the town last year.
More than a year later when he asked if they could still help Mr Bickerton said they were happy to offer help and paint.
"It's great to have this help to paint our new building," he said.
"Bunnings put out an offer to help community groups during the floods.
"They asked us if we needed help and I said we'll need help with a new building soon. They said give us a call to help when you're nearly done.
"A year and a half later I asked them if they were able to be involved and they're still happy to help."
Eight workers from across Bunnings' south Brisbane region of stores made their way to Lowood to paint.
Workers from Booval, Browns Plains, Oxley and Rocklea were on hand yesterday. A new group should finish the job today.
Mr Bickerton said he was hoping the headquarters would be finished by the end of the month and ready for SES operations by Christmas.
For the project Bunnings donated more than 100L of paint as well as tools and utensils and workers yesterday.
Four Lowood SES volunteers, Wendy Patterson, David Patterson, Barry Messenger and John Paul, were also helping prepare the new headquarters.
The work on the building will continue today.
