Three men have been charged with attempted murder following an alleged violent armed robbery at a suburban bakery.
Police alleged a 40-year-old shop attendant was shot in the back with a shotgun in the armed heist at Grange Rd, Eastern Heights about 2.15pm Sunday.
Police said it would be alleged three men entered the Bun Me Bakery, with one of them allegedly firing a shot at the woman, before attempting to shoot a second worker at the bakery.
It will be alleged the weapon failed on the second occasion.
Police will allege one of the men jumped the counter and took a sum of cash.
The woman was rushed to hospital where she had a large number of pellets removed from her body.
Ipswich detectives yesterday arrested two men in Ipswich and a third in Logan in relation to the incident.
They included a 37-year-old man from Leichhardt, a 21-year-old man from Logan Central, and a 20-year-old man from Kingston.
All three are due to appear in court this week on charges of two counts of attempted murder, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of weapons.
Ipswich Acting Detective Inspector Heath McQueen said police would allege it was a particularly violent offence ‘of an extreme nature’.
“The police response was commensurate with the seriousness of the offence and it is good to have removed these alleged offenders from the community,” he said.
Following Sunday’s incident, business owner Kim said the bakery on Grange Road would remain closed until further notice.
“Thank you for everyone’s well wishes,” she said.
“I’m in hospital overnight from injuries, however (they’re) nothing major.
“I’m still alive.”
