Australia’s favourite blue heeler, Bluey, will hold a special meet and greet at this week’s 151st Ipswich Show.
Kicking off on Friday, one of the three-day event’s highlights will be an exclusive live session with Bluey and her sister Bingo.
“It’s a Bluey interactive show for the kids that’s on Sunday, so we’d love everyone to come along and party hard with Bluey,” Ipswich Show Society president Darren Zanow said.
Mr Zanow said the Show had doubled in size since Covid, capturing more entertainment and agriculture elements.
“Due to its incredible success last year the show will continue to present an expanded footprint,” he said.
“We’ve got a huge contingent of show rides and a huge entertainment program for the three days and nights.
“Expect to be thoroughly entertained and enthralled and to get up close and personal with all of the animals we have in our show.”
The show would include the usual rodeo, monster trucks, fireworks, circus performances, workshops and carnival rides.
Animal attractions included llamas, alpacas and camels, cow milking, sheep shearing and leather making.
Mayor Teresa Harding said she always made a beeline for the craft and cooking pavilions.
“Whether it’s livestock, produce, art, cooking, chainsaw racing or a blinged-up ute, these competitions encourage camaraderie where people come together to admire and learn from each other’s efforts, creating lasting connections over the years,” Cr Harding said.
“Last year at the Rosewood Show was the first time I put in my crochet work, a bag and a baby’s blanket.
“This year I am putting something else I made into the Ipswich Show and I will love to see what everyone else is doing.
“The real beauty in Ipswich Show’s competitions is that anyone can have a go.
“Enter anything you are passionate about, even if you are a novice – the fun is in having a go.”
The 151st Ipswich Show will run from Friday, May 17, until Sunday at the Ipswich Showground.
Tickets are available online or at the gate, from $25 for an adult.
