MORE than $3000 was raised on Friday night for the Special Care Nursery at the Bling for Babies event.

Event organiser Katherine Wyman said there were more than 50 people at the event held at the Brookwater Golf Club.

"It went fantastically, really well," she said.

"In the end we've raised a bit over $3000, not quite as much as we'd hoped but a great amount of money for one night."

Ms Wyman said the success of the night was due to the support of the people of Ipswich.

"It wouldn't have been possible without the support of the community," she said.

Attendees of the event paid for a small container they were able to fill with jewellery some donated by locals.

The gala also marked the end of "Bling Week" where the organisers called on people to "bling it up" to help raise money and awareness for the nursery.

The Bling for Babies will be held again next year.
