THE biggest bird show in the state is on again in Ipswich.
The Ipswich Festival of Feathers Bird Spectacular will be held at the main exhibition hall at the Ipswich Showgrounds on Sunday, June 10.
More than 250 exhibitors from as far afield as Grafton and Bundaberg will be showing off their caged birds at the annual show.
The festival is hosted by the Ipswich and District Budgerigar Society, the Ipswich Canary Society, the African Lovebirds and Foreign Parrot Society and the Queensland Finch Society.
African Lovebirds and Foreign Parrot Society president Terry White, who started keeping birds 60 years ago as a 14-year-old in England, said the festival was a great day for bird lovers.
"This is the largest show in Queensland and the fourth largest in Australia," he said.
"There is so much at the show for people who love birds.
"It's just a great day out."
This year the show will be without a chicken display with many of the local poultry presenters in Canberra for the National Poultry Show.
"The Ipswich Bird Spectacular has been an annual event for the Ipswich region since 2000," he said.
"The event is the result of the combined efforts of the Ipswich District and Budgerigar Society, the Ipswich Canary Society, the African Lovebird and Foreign Parrot Society, and the Queensland Finch Society.
"The event attracts some 250 exhibitors from as far away as Grafton and other New South Wales townships, as well as Roma and Charleville in Queensland's west and Bundaberg in the north."
Organisers are expecting approximately 1500 people, exhibitors and visitors to attend this year's event.
