TRUCKS from across the state converged on Gatton on Sunday to smash a world record.

The record for most Mack trucks located in one place was well and truly broken on Saturday at the Gatton Showgrounds as part of the Historic Commercial Vehicle Association Queensland's Truck and Machinery show.

One hundred and thirty seven trucks from all over Queensland and beyond nearly tripled the previous record held by drivers in Colac, Victoria, at a Mack Muster in 2010.

Show director Graham Kircher said the weekend was a huge success.

"It was a really, really good weekend," he said.

"We packed the showgrounds to capacity on Saturday.

"There were thousands of people there, it was great."

Mr Kircher said there were more than 300 trucks present at the show, with nearly half of them the Macks involved in the record.

Along with Mack trucks members of the group as well as locals brought along historic trucks and tractors from across the district.

Mr Kircher said the event had attracted trucks and patrons from as far away as New Zealand.

There were trucks from all over, there were trucks from Roma and Rockhampton," he said.

"We even had a bloke come up from Tassie with his Mack. And 20 people from New Zealand made their way over for the show."

Mr Kircher said despite the show having been held in Brisbane for the past 17 iterations the association was planning to continue to hold the show in Gatton in the future.

"We'll definitely be coming back," he said.

"The Lockyer Valley Council really supported us and the people out here were great as well."

Mr Kircher said the association would be holding a meeting this week to consider how to top the show in 2012.
