Annual show 'stitched up'

SEWERS from across south-east Queensland are expected to converge on Boonah next month.

The Boonah Girl Guides will be hosting their 10th annual quilt and craft show at the Boonah Cultural Centre from March 9-11.

The event has become one of the Guides' biggest of the year and brings bus loads of visitors to the town from across the south-east corner.

The Cultural Centre will become home to more than 100 handmade quilts, alongside a range of other craft items.

The craft displays will include beading, jewellery, card making, felting and embroidery as well as many more crafts.

Boonah Girl Guides district leader Beth Hern said the show was an ideal chance for keen quilters to get new ideas and products.

"It is a great opportunity for quilters and like-minded people to purchase fabrics, patterns and accessories from the many shops who set up their stalls, and conduct demonstrations of the latest gadgets," she said.

"You will also find stalls selling their ready-made craft for people who love the beautiful handiwork, and don't have the skills or time to make their own.

"This is a non-competitive display and the Boonah Girl Guides would welcome any items to add to the show."

The show will also see Devonshire teas and other refreshments available along with the quilts and crafts.

The show is also one of the major chances for the community to support the Boonah Girl Guides.
