An injured puppy was trapped inside a dog park on Monday night, with locals working together to help set the dog free Tuesday morning.
Redbank Plains resident Patricia Colmenares shared heartbreaking images of the large dog whimpering inside the Banjo Paterson Dog Park on Facebook, asking for someone to help.
Within five minutes of the post going live, one resident rushed to the park to rescue the dog.
Ginge Murray said she struggled to get him in her small car.
“He wasn’t too happy in the car. Took us about 15 mins just for him to come inside,” she said.
“He has eaten and had some water, and is still very timid. Full of bangs and scratches, poor boy.
“He is (now at Animal Welfare League Queensland Ipswich Community Vet Clinic) getting injuries assessed. Poor darling is bleeding, and his nail is coming off too.
“He was very timid, and they will take good care of him, and find him a new owner if no one comes forward.”
Ipswich City Council was contacted for comment on the current condition of the dog.
