Discounted Ekka tickets will go on sale on Friday with the historic return of the beloved Brisbane event just over two months away.
From midday Friday, Queenslanders will be able to sign up for the first of a strictly limited number of half-price tickets on offer.
Punters can sign up at ekka.com.au which will be launched online for subscriber only with a 30 per cent discount on offer until midday Monday, June 6.
Royal National Agricultural chief executive Brendan Christou said the discounted tickets offered a bit of hip pocket relief.
“It’s time for us all to come together again and enjoy the People’s Show,’’ Mr Christou said.
“There is wonderful community sentiment for the show, our exhibitors, competitors and the public can’t wait to welcome the return of the Ekka.’’
Mr Christou said the RNA was mindful of rising cost of living pressures and providing families with value for money so Ekka could be enjoyed on any budget.
He said it was the most affordable show in years and expected people to flood through the gates for the first show in three years.
“After five years of freezing ticket prices, this year tickets will only increase by $1, and we will be running more super saver discount days than ever before offering a further 20 per cent off on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of show,’’ he said.
“That means a family of four can come to the show on a super saver day for about $34 with the 50 per cent discount added on top, while an adult would pay just over $14.”
Tickets must be purchased online only, and people need to nominate the day they are coming to show to manage daily capacities.
More than 200 jobs are also on offer with positions available across 36 roles including cooks, animal traffic ushers, labourers, competition attendants and stewards.
Mr Christou said no experience was required with positions available from ages 15 and over.
“If your dream has been to work at the Ekka, now is your time,’’ Mr Christou said.
The Ekka generates more than $200 million for the state’s economy and creates
more than 3,500 jobs.
The RNA employs 550 people alone for the event.
