What's driving overseas interest in Australian property?

Cedar Woods Properties is fast tracking housing supply in Brisbane’s inner north, with the first residents of its latest masterplanned community, Greville at Wooloowin, settling into their new townhouses.

The milestone comes as construction on the sold out second release surges beyond the halfway point.

Located 5km north of the Brisbane CBD, the 3.5ha historical site will evolve over the next five years to deliver 84 townhouses, more than 200 apartments across three buildings, and a collection of heritage homes.

The development also features a large 4000sq m public park, alongside private resident amenities.

Cedar Woods development director Blair Britton said construction was advancing across multiple stages of the masterplan at Greville after the first two releases sold out shortly after their respective launches.

“The construction of the first collection of 12 townhomes was completed within 12 months of launch and settlements are now completed,” he said.

“Our second release of 25 townhomes is also sold out, with construction by Greyburn Building Contractors now beyond the halfway point.

“To be able to deliver each stage in swift succession is an incredible achievement in this market, and is instilling confidence in our buyers.”

Greville has easy access to bus, rail and bicycle networks and enjoys retail and dining precincts on its doorstep.

Mr Britton said Cedar Woods had commenced the launch of the third collection, comprising 20 three-bedroom townhouses, located at the southern precinct of the site, with construction anticipated to commence early next year.

“Three-bedroom townhomes offer great value in this market compared to detached dwellings,” he said.

“With our premium third release priced from $1.325m, this is significant value compared to the suburb’s median house price of $1.57m, which has increased 26.5 per cent in the past 12 months, according to realestate.com.au.”

Greville’s townhouses and apartments, designed by architecture studio Rothelowman, combine Wooloowin’s signature charm with modern finishes, complemented by the retention of the historic Holy Cross laundry building from the 1800s, which will be converted into heritage homes in a later release.

“More than 80 per cent of buyers are locals who not only understand the historical significance of this site, but appreciate the lifestyle we have curated at Greville,” Mr Britton said.

“Community amenities are already available to our founding residents, including a recreation area with a pool, barbecues and alfresco dining, and the 4000sq m community Greville Park, which opened last year.

“Greville is connected in every sense of the word.

“There is no other community with this level accessibility to Kedron Brook, the Northern Bikeway and Busway, and local retail and dining precincts.”

Established in Perth in 1987 and listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1994, Cedar Woods has grown to become one of the country’s leading developers.

From urban subdivisions, medium to high-density apartments and townhouses, to retail and commercial developments, Cedar Woods has offices in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Its Brisbane masterplanned communities under construction also include Ellendale in Upper Kedron and Sage in Burpengary.
