THE fairytale marriage of former Logan City Council glamour couple Sean and Hajnal Black appears to be headed to the courts - this time for a divorce.

Mrs Black yesterday sparked suspicion something in her personal life was amiss when she announced her presence in a Brisbane Supreme Court under her maiden name of Ban.

The embattled former councillor then fanned the flames when she asked Justice David Boddice to grant her an adjournment in a civil court proceedings because of personal matters that she did not want placed "on the public record".

Ms Ban later told The Courier-Mail she had received advice not to speak the media, but then revealed she and her husband were "getting a divorce".

The 34-year-old barrister-turned-politician had tears in her eyes as she revealed the secret that had only been hinted at during a series of court hearings over the past two months.

"I don't want to talk about it until after all of this (court saga) is over," she said.

"It is all very sad ... (but) I have a number of promising projects (I am working on)."

She even commented she had probably entered politics too young and was now much wiser for it.

During a hearing on March 29, Ms Ban blamed ongoing media attention over her series of court appearances one of which resulted in her being arrested under a warrant issued by a magistrate was ruining her marriage.

More than 200 people attended the Mt Tamborine wedding of the up-and-coming political power couple in late May 2010.

Hajnal, famous for her leg-bone-breaking surgery in Russia that extended her height by 8cm, described her marriage to her then campaign manager, Sean Black, as the happiest day in her life.

"I am so blessed and so very lucky to marry my best friend and soul mate ... I didn't think this day would ever come," she said on the day.

MC and federal LNP senator Barnaby Joyce even told Cr Black he was "the luckiest man in southeast Queensland".

After the ceremony the pair shared laughs and tears particularly, in reference to Cr Ban's ailing father figure - who cannot now be named for legal reasons - who walked her down the aisle.

Ms Ban was back in court yesterday to set a hearing date so she can account for how she spent money from a joint account she held with her dementia-suffering father-figure-cum-mentor.

In March, she was ordered to file documents showing what she had done with hundreds of thousands of dollars she is alleged to have mismanaged for her mentor, a retired barrister now 67, who is now in a nursing home.

The Public Trustee which has taken over the running of the man's affairs wanted her to explain to the court a number of transactions including taking money the joint account and depositing the money in her own.

The money came from the sale of the man's property at Park Ridge south of Brisbane.

Ms Ban initially asked for an adjournment, saying: "It's a personal matter. I just can't put it on the public record."

Justice Boddice ordered "the account is to be taken" during a hearing on July 20.
