Young boy flown to hospital from Goomeri with ‘significant’ burns caused by petrol fire

A young boy was flown to hospital in a critical condition on Thursday night after he suffered significant burns from a fire incident on a private Gympie region property.

UPDATE 8:00AM FRIDAY:

A Queensland Children’s Hospital spokesperson said the young boy remained in a critical but stable condition.

A young boy was flown to hospital in a critical but stable condition on Thursday night after he suffered significant burns from a fire incident on a private Goomeri property.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said crews attended the scene just after 7pm on July 8.

Paramedics initially treated the patient on the scene, before taking him to a showground north east of Murgon, to rendezvous with the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew.

The primary-school aged boy was flown by the Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter to the Queensland Children's Hospital and suffered “significant” burns to his body, face and airways.

“He reportedly suffered critical burns to approximately 60 per cent of his body,” a LifeFlight spokesperson said.
