Amamoor woman dies in crash on Corella Road

Police have released more information about the fatal crash that claimed the life of a 32-year-old woman near Gympie on Saturday night.

A 32-year-old Amamoor woman has been revealed as the victim of fatal crash near Gympie on Saturday night.

Police said on Monday the woman was killed after the silver 2000 Honda HRV she was driving left Corella Road about 10.20pm, rolled and hit a tree.

The woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle and she died at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved.

Initial investigations indicate the car was travelling north on Corella Road when it lost control, left the roadway and rolled before hitting a tree.

Investigations are continuing.

This year 44 people have died on Wide Bay roads, up 20 compared with the same time last year.

So concerned are police, additional officers from the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane have been brought in to carry out extended patrols in the region as part of Operation Bombay.

Police said there was real concern about the local road toll which was higher than the regions in the rest of the state.
