There are seven candidates this election, including (in ballot paper order) Kirsti Kenningale (Family First), Elliott Chalmers (Labor), Chad Burgess (Pauline Hanson’s One Nation), Llew O’Brien (LNP), Casey Iddon (Independent), Emma Buhse (Greens), and Gabrial Pennicott (Trumpet of Patriots).

LNP’s Llew O’Brien has held the seat since 2016 and retained it at the 2022 election with an 11.3 per cent margin on a two-party-preferred basis.

The Wide Bay takes in Gympie, Maryborough, and Noosa, as well as the parts of the South Burnett including Goomeri and Cherbourg along with Mary Valley towns Imbil and Kandanga.
