Which store has their sights set on opening in Gympie?

We asked the stores you want to see in Gympie whether they will open here. Here are their responses.

WE asked you on Facebook what store you wanted to see open in Gympie and the answer was overwhelmingly and not surprisingly Kmart.

When The Gympie Times learnt earlier in the year Kmart had "no firm plans" to open in Gympie, we approached the other stores Gympie residents said they wanted to see make the move here, and one store's answer will give fashionistas a light at the end of the tunnel.

BASED in Brisbane, Territory is a 100% Australian owned and operated clothing and accessories store stocking speciality Australian and international labels...and they have their eye on opening in Gympie.

A store spokewoman said Gympie is part of the retailer's expansion strategy.

"Bullzye have plans to open one of their 20 new 'Territory Brands' store locations in Gympie in the next few years with the search for a suitable location already underway," she said.

The retailer stocks 30 brands including Bullzye, Elwood, Fox, Jetpilot, Alpine Stars, All About Eve, Jorge, Rock Revival, Ogio, Grace In L.A, Ariat, PBR and plans on adding 20 new labels in the next year.

Bullzye has stores in Brisbane, Mackay, Rockhampton, Townsville and Toowoomba.

AS for the the other stores we approached, they seemed chuffed with the compliment but don't have any firm plans on moving to Gympie.

Here's what they said:

ED HARRY: "WE are happy to hear that Ed Harry would be popular in the town. We don't have any concrete plans for a store at the moment, but we are committed to expansion in your region if an appropriate opportunity comes up. It is one of the few areas of Queensland that we are yet to cover."

UNIT: "AS a Queensland-created and owned brand we're excited to hear of the demand for a retail presence in Gympie. There are no current plans for a store in the area however we have been encouraged by the response to a number of pop-up stores on the Gold Coast and Brisbane and are looking into further locations for both 2016 and 2017 which could include the Sunshine Coast and surrounding areas."
