With official ceremonies, an Aussie train ride or delicious barbecue meals paired with live music to attend, there is a whole day of fun to be had in the region on the special day.

Gympie Memorial Park - Australia Day Awards
Grab a blanket and camping chairs for the annual event hosted by Gympie Regional Council.
A free barbecue breakfast cooked by Gympie Regional Homeless Assistance Incorporated will be on from 7.30am. The Citizenship Ceremony and Australia Day Awards will follow, starting at 8.40am. A series of panels telling the story of Memorial Park have been set up by council around the Rotunda to view on the day.
Australia Day Express, Mary Valley Rattler
The iconic heritage steam train will celebrate the holiday by offering a barbecue, entertainment and more at the historic Gympie Station. The Aussie Express will depart at 10am and will return at 1pm to be greeted with cheese and Vegemite scrolls, lamington and more Aussie goodness at the station.
Cobb and Co Nine Mile Camping Ground
There’s plenty going on for the kids in Tandur at Cobb and Co Nine Mile Camping Ground this Australia Day, whether it be for a long weekend or a family day pass. Skipping, tug-o-war, and a water slide will be held on Thursday from 1pm alongside a train ride on the Megapilla. The fun will go on with a train ride available on Friday, and the water slide as well as the train will be on Saturday.
Gympie RSL
Have a sing-a-long in Mary Street at the Gympie RSL. The kitchen will be serving Aussie Day lunch specials alongside live acoustic music from Scott Astill.
Australia Day at Glenwood
Prizes are to be won at the Glenwood Community Hall for gumboot toss and thong throwing competitions.
Enjoy the free sausage sizzle, live music and a jumping castle for the whole family.
The free event will run from 8am to 11am.
Royal Hotel Tiaro
An Australia Day Car Show Extravaganza will be on at the Royal Hotel in Tiaro with cold food and drinks at the pub and Retro Coffee across the road. The event will be free to the public from 9am with trophies to be won on the day.
Backyard cricket - Queenslander Hotel
The kitchen will be open at the Queenslander Hotel with a game of backyard cricket on from 4pm. Live music will be performed from 6pm by Goldy Luxx at the pub. Bring your best singing voices, for there will be karaoke on with Goldy from 9pm.
Theebine Hotel
The Theebine Hotel will be abuzz for the holiday with lots of Aussie food on offer. Fun, games and a special barbecue lunch is too be expected along with Graeme Jensen paying a visit between 12pm-4pm.
Gunabul Homestead
Australia Day can be spent under the sun on the golf course at Gunabul Homestead. Gold and barbecue lunch will be on offer for those who attend. Special prizes for golf and best dressed are to be won.
