Residents keen on joining the event are being asked to register their interest at the department’s website, under the Section D link.

People who do not register will not be turned away, the spokesman said.

Registrations close on July 12.

Information on the event line-up and parking will be released later.

The Bypass is due to be finished and open to traffic by the end of 2024, weather permitting.

State Transport Minister Bart Mellish said in the release the four-year construction of the Bypass had “overcome a long list of challenges like a world-wide pandemic, several floods and supply chain issues, only to power ahead and here we are, ready to open it up for the community to get involved in the celebrations”.
