Man airlifted to hospital after Veteran crash

A man in his 20s has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after he lost control and crashed into a guard rail at a bridge in Veteran on Friday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at Sandy Creek Rd at 7.04 where the man was trapped inside the car after it hit a guardrail on the side of a bridge.

A LifeFlight spokesperson said the man, who was the only person in the car, was trying to overtake another vehicle when he lost control.

A Queensland Police spokesperson the man was trapped by the legs and firefighters worked to free him from the wreckage.

The car could be seen bearing down to the ground below.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said he suffered chest and leg injuries, and a LifeFlight spokesperson said the man suffered a suspected spinal injury

He was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
