UPDATE: Teenager airlifted to hospital with serious injuries

THE full extent of the boy's injuries have been revealed - with the 13-year-old currently in a critical condition at Lady Cilento Hospital in Brisbane. 

It's believed at this stage he has suffered serious multi-trauma injuries, including possible spinal injuries after he was struck by a car by riding his pushbike. 

According to RACQ Lifeflight - this is the second time the boy has been airlifted to hospital, following a skateboarding accident two years ago.

EARLIER: A teenager has been flown to Lady Cilento Hospital in Brisbane following a serious traffic crash at Rainbow Beach earlier this morning. 

Ambulance media confirmed the boy, believed to be in his early teens, was on a pushbike when he was struck by a car at the intersection of Carlo and Karoonda Rd just after 9am. 

It's believed he has suffered serious injuries to his head and lower body in the crash, requiring an airlift to hospital in Brisbane.

BREAKING: Emergency crews are currently at the scene of a serious crash at Rainbow Beach. 

Details at this stage are unknown, but QAS media say a male patient has received significant injuries to his head and lower body.

It's believed the call came in just after 9am this morning on Carlo Rd.
