THE Pavilion at the Gympie Showgrounds hosted thousands of people at the weekend's Stirling Homes Qld Home & Life Expo, a Gympie event showcasing more than 70 local businesses and services.

Running Saturday and Sunday, Expo organiser Michelle Agnew was happy with the event's success.

"We had some new ideas this year and exhibitors felt they had a lot of genuine inquires and interest, with some obtaining great business opportunities from it," Mrs Agnew said.

People attending with kids had the bonus this year of a more kiddy friendly atmosphere, with 176 kids entering the expo scavenger hunt.

The major prizes were a real draw card. The winner of a new John Deere D100 Ride-on mower from Hi-WAY 1, valued at $2900, was Maria Rutledge of Gympie, and Karen Walker of Southside won a Mecano carport valued at $3000.

The next event for Apple Management will be Flavourfest on November 17 and Gympie Bridal Expo on November 18.
