A SKY full of colour provided a glorious start to the morning in Gympie ahead of another day brimming with that autumn feel.

And while the day will remain mostly fine, Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Sean Fitzgerald said a trough creeping in from the west could bring showers or even a storm this evening, with the chance more likely on the Cooloola Coast.

The trough is expected to bring a cool change with night time temperatures falling in line with May averages around 14 - 16 degrees and day time temperatures staying around 24 degrees from tomorrow until the weekend.

Mr Fitzgerald said it wouldn't be long before the real cool shows up.

"People will feel winter coming soon.”
