THE safety of Tin Can Bay community has been bolstered with addition of a new police officer to the bayside town.
Constable Keith Morris arrived in the Bay last week after working in Ipswich.
His arrival brings the police numbers at the Tin Can Bay station to full strength.
Gympie Police District Superintendent Allan Bourke said numbers at Tin Can Bay had been down because of transient staff, but the addition of Constable Morris meant Tin Can Bay station was back to its full compliment of officers.
“There are seven officers all up on the coast, five based at Tin Can Bay and two at the Rainbow Beach Police Beat,” Superintendent Bourke said.
The Superintendent welcomed Constable Morris to Tin Can Bay and said he was an officer with a wealth of experience who was looking forward to interacting with the local community.
“We have an excellent group of police officers at the coast who help make the community a safer place.
The new officer at the coast comes after the Gympie Traffic Branch had its numbers bolstered by another two early last month.
Superintendent Bourke said extra police numbers made things tougher for criminals and safer for law abiding members of society.
