Tickled pink for any mission

GYMPIE Devils A grade side may have had last weekend off, but that didn't stop coach Darren Burns getting them out into the community on a pink mission.

GYMPIE Devils A grade side may have had last weekend off, but that didn't stop coach Darren Burns getting them out into the community on a pink mission.

Dressed in their new pink breast cancer awareness jerseys, the players were given seven tasks to carry out in the community as a team building exercise.

The players had tasks like helping shoppers with their groceries, building human pyramids at the Five Ways and meeting groups of 15 people - and it all had to be photographed for proof.

Burns said the day was about getting the boys to work together as a team and interact with the public in a positive way.

“The boys were a bit sceptical at first, but by the end of the day they were loving it,” Burns said.

“I think they would like to do it again. We got positive feedback from the public and it helped spread the word about our charity football day this Saturday,” he said.

The Devils will be playing in their pink jerseys this weekend against Noosa at Jack Stokes Oval to help raise money for breast cancer.

The jerseys will be auctioned at the end of the night with 50 per cent of funds going to the Kym Walters Breast Cancer Charity.
