Tiaro riders head for state championships at Bundaberg

Four young riders from the Tiaro Pony Club are set to shake things up against the very best in Queensland.

Four riders from Tiaro Pony Club are off to compete in the PCQ State Jumping Equitation and Show Jumping Championships in Bundaberg from April 2-5, 2023.

All riders have been members of Pony Club since they were two years old.

Debbie Iker, from Tiaro Pony Club, said all the riders were looking forward to competing at the championships next month and had good chances of success.

"Our riders have travelled and trained extensively to attend events to qualify for these state championships," she said.

"They regularly attend competitions and clinics with coaches, Ruth White, Clem Smith and Brett Cantle to keep them performing at their best.

"They all have a great chance of coming home with a ribbon from this event.

"The Tiaro Club is extremely proud of our rider’s dedication and wish them all a successful State Championship."

The four riders from Tiaro Pony Club are Skye Ryan, Blake McAuliffe, Carter McAuliffe and Bailey McAuliffe.

Here are some words from Debbie on each of the riders.

Skye Ryan

Skye and her horse Kez have qualified to compete in the 80cm Jumping Equitation and Show Jump. Skye is 16 years old and loves everything horses, and this combination is going from strength to strength. This is Skye’s second state event.

Blake McAuliffe

Blake and his sweet little mare Fergus Park Eldora Golden have qualified for the 12 under 60cm Jumping Equitation and Show Jump. Blake is eight years old and he and Eldora are a new horses and rider combination but they have worked hard to qualify for this event. They are a great team to watch. This will be Blake’s second state event.

Carter McAuliffe

Carter and his horse Aragon Park Danny Boy have qualified to compete in the 12 Under 70 Jumping Equitation and the 12 Under 80cm Show Jump. Carter is 11, this is certainly a combination to watch. This is Carter’s third state event.

Bailey McAuliffe

Bailey and his horse Calgary Stampede have qualified to compete in the 1m Jumping Equitation and Show Jump. Bailey is 16 years old and is just loving the connection he has with his home bred Warmblood gelding. This team are just getting better and better and will be one to watch. Bailey has been attending state events since 2015.
