UPDATE Monday 7.30am:
LESS than 48 hours after a fire ripped through a Curra home and destroyed a lifetime of memories for a well-known and well-loved family, the Gympie community has raised more than $6500.
Kev and Lorna lost their home of 30 years and beloved pet dog to a house fire on Saturday, which took hold around 1pm and was fully involved when firefighters arrived on the scene.
The family, who had just returned from a trip to town, could do nothing but hold each other and watch as the home they raised their children in burn to the ground.

"There is so much pain in this," the couple's daughter wrote on a Gofundme page established to raise funds to support the family, which is over halfway to reaching its $10 000 target less than two days later.
"It's the heartbreaking sound of your mother wailing as she watches a lifetime of memories burn before her eyes.
"It's the gut wrenching vision of your red eyed father as his knees give way and his head falls into his hands.
"The two strongest people I know, literally brought to their knees.
"It's only stuff," dad kept saying. "We still have everyone. That's what matters. We just have to start again."
But Kev and Lorna have also lost their immediate means of employment; Lorna's at-home studio and Kev's work vehicle he commutes with.
Despite being faced with such a great loss, the family is extremely grateful nobody was hurt and thankful for the support of the community.
"We are so grateful that nobody was home at the time, however three pets were in the house when several gas bottles and the three cars parked underneath began exploding," Kev and Lorna's daughter wrote.
"The two cats managed to escape the blaze with minor burns. The beloved dog however, was not so lucky.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came and held us as we cried.
"The family that were here in a heartbeat, even though you were not near. The overwhelming amount of you offering a place to rest their head at night.
"So many amazing hearts holding up my more than deserving parents has warmed me. You are all truly beautiful people.
"Starting back at square one is never easy, and after this heartbreaking event, I can only imagine the struggles they are yet to face."

SUNDAY: A Gofundme page established to help the family who lost their home of 30 years to a house fire at Curra yesterday is already close to raising $5000.
There were gut wrenching scenes in Thomas St as the family was forced to watch their beloved home burn to the ground after returning from a trip to town.
The family dog perished in the blaze, with neighbours saying they could hear yelping from inside the house as the blaze took hold.
Two pet cats were lucky to escape, one without injuries, but one was found singed and distraught and hiding in the culvert outside the house.
The family was in a state of despair and held each other as they watched the last moments of their family memories, possessions and home go up in flames.
A Gofundme page has been established so that anyone who knows Kev and Lorna or wants to help them get back on their feet can make a donation. Already this morning almost 50 donations have been made totalling more than $4600.

A message from the family on the Gofundme page says this:
"(On Saturday), as some of you know, Kev and Lorna went through what many have endured before, and something everyone hopes never happens to them... my parents lost their home to a devastating fire.
"Within a few tiny hours, what took almost 30 years to create, was burned to the ground.
"We watched the emergency response crews do everything they could, but unfortunately, there is now nothing left of the home my siblings and I grew up in.

"Mum works from home. Her massage studio, gone. Dad works away. His vehicle to commute to work, gone.
