The Reject Shop to re-open as Mary St property goes up for sale

National retail giant The Reject Shop has revealed new details about its highly anticipated return to Gympie’s CBD while site owners look to sell for a seven figure sum.

A national retail giant is expecting to reopen its doors in coming months more than a year after it was gutted by the floods in February, 2022.

The return of The Reject Shop in Mary Street is long-awaited by Gympie region shoppers with questions raised frequently as to when it will return.

A Reject Shop spokesperson said the company was very excited to re-open the store in “the coming months.”

The store was submerged in last year’s floods, which has resulted in the landlord need to undertake substantial works to the premises in readiness for The Reject Shop to re-open,” the spokesperson said.

“The Reject Shop expects that the landlord will complete its works in the coming months.

“The Reject Shop looks forward to welcoming everyone from Gympie and the surrounding communities back to the store.”

The property on 130-138 Mary Street, currently owned by Edam McGrove Pty Ltd has been put up for sale through Colliers Sunshine Coast with an asking price of $2 million.

The listing states The Reject Shop is currently under a three-year lease expiring in February 2024 with another three years in prospect.
