Two LifeFlight helicopters have rushed to aid teenagers after a serious vehicle rollover in the Gympie region, with one victim airlifted to Brisbane with spinal injuries.

Teens hurt in Gympie rollover

The Sunshine Coast-based and Bundaberg-based LifeFlight helicopter crews on Thursday flew to the scene of a single-vehicle rollover in the Gympie region.

Both aircraft were tasked to Amamoor Creek Road at Amamoor about 4pm by Retrieval Services Queensland, a LifeFlight statement said.

The critical care LifeFlight doctors and Queensland Ambulance Service flight paramedics worked with local QAS paramedics to treat two male patients in their late teens.

The first male patient suffered suspected spinal injuries and was airlifted by the LifeFlight Sunshine Coast-based helicopter to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for further treatment.

The second male patient suffered minor abrasions and QAS paramedics transported him by road to Gympie Hospital.

Queensland Police Media have been contacted for more information.
