Storms, heavy rainfall expected for start of holidays

The BOM says rainfall is almost certain for Gympie to start the school holidays this weekend, with thunderstorms possible too.

New data released from the Bureau of Meteorology has predicted rainfall for the start of the school holidays in Gympie, with 6mm to 10mm of rain predicted for Friday, and 15mm to 30mm of rain predicted for Saturday.​

After a mostly dry start to winter Gympie is about to receive some much needed rain to start the school holidays.

The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted rainfall two days of rain with 6mm-10mm of rain predicted for Friday, and 15mm-30mm of rain expected Saturday.

The forecast for Friday predicts a very high chance of rain, as well as the chance of a thunderstorm in the late afternoon and evening.

Predictions are similar for Saturday, with rain a near certainty as well as the possibility of a thunderstorm.

Temperatures are also predicted to reach a top of 21C on Friday and 19C on Saturday.
