THE power of social media was proven again on the weekend when Linda and Don Birt had a sentimental home-made buggy returned to them.

The buggy (pictured above), which had been the vehicle their late son Corporal Ashley Birt had learnt to drive in, was stolen from a locked shed at Gunalda the previous Saturday.

After the Birts put the word out on several Gympie Facebook sites, a woman whose husband had seen a buggy dumped in the woods got in touch.

Linda said the buggy had some missing parts but it was largely undamaged.

"The important thing is we've got it back," she said.
