FOSTER started well despite dropping back a few placings and held his position until the fateful tenth lap.
“We were just about to enter the left hand hairpin turn before the main straight.
“We were doing about 80km/h and got hit from behind and were shunted into the fence.
“We rode up the fence and just as I thought we were going to roll a car landed on our roof and rolled across our bonnet,” Foster said.
Video footage of the accident shows Caloundra driver Glen Truion's Ford Falcon rolled after impact before flying though the air and landing on Foster's car with the impact being right above Foster Snr.
“He rolled about three of four times,” Foster said.
“It was a hell of a ride.
“We were just the meat in the sandwich.”
Foster said he turned off the car and shook his head before checking on his father.
“I said 'are you alright,' and he just moaned.”
By the time Foster got out of the wreck, officials had got to the car to help the injured passenger.
“There was a fair bit of concern about dad,” Foster said.
“At one stage they thought they might have to cut the roof off,' he said.
After the accident the race for the Queensland title resumed and Rockhampton based Queensland Champion Anthony Gaunt retained his title.
