GYMPIE Saloon Car drivers have dominated at Toowoomba's Charlton raceway, finishing in the top four spots.
Easter weekend saw Gympie modified production speedway drivers Mark and Aiden Raymont, Brett Baxter and Glenn Pagel travel to the raceway 12km west of Toowoomba to compete in the Modified Production Masters.
Mark Raymont led from start to finish in the 20-lap feature event in a great display of mistake-free driving.
He was pressured the entire race, firstly by Toowoomba's Darran Lester, then Gympie drivers Brett Baxter and Aiden Raymont.
After the qualifying heat races were complete, three Gympie drivers - Mark Raymont, Brett Baxter and Glenn Pagel - filled the first four positions on grid in a 20-car field with drivers from all over Queensland and New South Wales.
At the drop of the green flag Mark Raymont led from Darran Lester, Brett Baxter and Glenn Pagel.
Baxter and Pagel slid past Lester on lap 10.
Aiden Raymont made his move on lap 12 when overtook Pagel then Baxter to take up second position behind brother Mark. Pagel faded to fifth after Toowoomba's Robert Trapp moved past in turn four with four laps remaining.
At the chequered flag, though, it was all Gympie drivers and green cars with a solid win to Mark Raymont, Aiden Raymont second, with Glenn Pagel sneaking into third on the last lap from Brett Baxter in another solid drive for fourth position.
Mark Raymont was pleased with his win in Toowoomba, but said it was even better to have his brother finish second and his team mates in third and fourth.
“It is a great result for the Gympie Saloon Car Club,' Raymont said.
“The track was really good and there was some nice clean racing.
“It's good to come away without too much damage to the car,” he said.
The Gympie boys will be back in action on Saturday night when Mothar Mountain comes alive for more door slamming action.
Full report will be in tomorrow's The Gympie Times.
