Cricketers receive just desserts

GYMPIE cricket president Bob Blackburn praised the efforts of the region's cricketers at the presentation ceremony Sunday afternoon and made special mention of Gympie Cricketer of the Year Josh Brady.

Brady won the coveted Max Walters Memorial Trophy for Gympie's best cricketer and was also presented with the Wide Bay Cricketer of the Year Award.

“Winning the Wide Bay award is a big honour for someone so young,” Blackburn said.

The president congratulated Valleys on its win saying the side had been the form team of the competition and deserved the title, but made special mention for sponsors Cooloola Civil Construction.

“I would like to thank them for everything they did for Gympie cricket this year,” he said.
