PLACES are quickly running out for golfers wanting to swing their clubs with some of the Broncos’ best.
The Broncos Charity Golf Day will tee off at the Gympie Pines golf course with a shotgun start 12.30pm tomorrow.
Broncos’ stars Peter Wallis, Andrew McCullogh and Jharal Yow Yeh will join with footy legends Mick Hancock, Michael Devere, Billy Moore and Ben Ikin to help raise valuable funds for Little Haven Palliative Care and the Gympie Junior Rugby League.
The National Bank has come on board for the third year as the major sponsor and Senior Partner David Fletcher said the sponsorship was part of the bank’s local community focus.
“From a personal aspect my family has seen the great work palliative care puts in and I have a background playing with the local rugby league,” Fletcher said.
Gympie Junior Rugby League President Ross Groundwater said they almost had a full field for the day, but there was still room for players and sponsors to come on board.
“We are hoping for a field of 120,” Groundwater said.
“We have beer carts in operation, a sausage sizzle and a sponsors’ barbecue.
“We have loads of prizes and are having a memorabilia auction during the presentations,” he said.
Last year the event raised $17,000 for charity and this year the group is hoping to raise more than $20,000.
The golf tournament is played as a two-person ambrose with three teams per playing group.
The cost of entering the golf tournament is $35 and anyone interested in playing in or sponsoring the event can ring Sue Manton from Little Haven Palliative Care on 0417 736 466.
