Broncos' fun day for juniors

GYMPIE Junior Rugby League is calling on all primary school children, both boys and girls, to come along for a rugby league fun day with the Broncos.

GYMPIE Junior Rugby League is calling on all primary school children, both boys and girls, to come along for a rugby league fun day with the Broncos this afternoon at Jack Stokes Oval.

Gympie Devils coach and junior development officer Darren Burns said the day was about trying rugby league while broadening young players' skills.

Select members from the successful Broncos' under 20 rugby league squad will be on hand to help the young footballers with the skills sessions.

Burns urged all primary school-aged children to come along even if they have never played the game before.

“It's free, no cost, you will get to meet some up-and-coming Broncos players and have a lot of fun.”

Burns said the children would be broken up into age groups and put through some fun skill sessions before playing a game at the end of the session.

Burns said the skills day was a good way for kids both boys and girls who were getting a little bored on the holidays to get out of the house.

“Not all kids go away for the holidays so this is a fun day designed to give the youngsters something to do during the Easter break,” he said.

Burns said the coaching clinic would start at 4pm and go through to 6pm this afternoon.

Any player or child who would like to come only needs to turn up to Jack Stokes Oval before this time.
