The Bureau of Meteorology issued a minor flood warning for the Mary River on Wednesday night after constant rain for most of the week led to totals of close to 100m across the region.

The river reached 7.31m at 9.54am on Thursday and BoM representative Harry Clark said he expected that level was “not far off” the peak.

The Kidd Bridge in Gympie floods at 9m, so though the Mary was high throughout Thursday, the bridge stayed dry.

After a 94mm drenching, Mr Clark said Gympie could expect a “general easing” as the Easter long weekend began.

Although every day of the four-day weekend had a 50-60 per cent of rain, he said there would be “pockets of sunshine”.
