Rifle Range Rd fire extinguished but crews are still on the scene

LATEST UPDATE 8:45PM: A dramatic house fire in Rifle Range Rd has now been extinguished, according to sources, however fire crews remain on the scene.

Fire broke out in the weatherboard Queenslander shortly before 7pm this evening. Fire crews arrived on the scene shortly after to find the house already ablaze and the occupants of the home safely mustered on the pavement.

Crews quickly brought the blaze under control and worked to ensure the safety of other nearby buildings.

UPDATE 8pm: Fire crews have ascertained that all occupants of a house fire in Rifle Range Rd are safe and accounted for. Station officer Richie from Gympie station said the fire is now under control.

"On arrival we located the occupants of the building outside on the pavement. They were all mustered together. I was quickly able to identify that the occupants were out of the building. We then went into an exposure protection mode of firefighting and were looking after houses around the building,” Officer Richie said.

He said it was too early to tell the cause of the fire.

EARLIER at 7:30pm: .A house is completely engulfed by flames tonight and three fire units and several fire crews are on the scene.

An ambulance crew is currently on standby.

The road is blocked and neighbours and watchers are looking on as the crews attempt to fight the blaze.
