The Rainbow Beach Holiday Park is getting a major facelift with Gympie Regional Council giving its plans for expansion the green light.
The owners of the decades-old Big4 Breeze Holiday Park, 2km west of Rainbow Beach near the Carlo Point Marina, first unveiled plans for the overhaul in June 2023.
In October the council’s planning department approved the proposal under delegation.
The council’s decision notice said the redevelopment would benefit “community, economic and tourism “ at Rainbow Beach and across the wider Gympie region.
Under the approved plans the total number of sites at the park would capped at 308.
This included 230 campsites and 78 cabins.
No more than six guests will be allowed to stay on a site at any given time.
The park’s upgrades will be built in seven stages.

The first stage will deliver a new amenities block and new glamping tents.
Stages two and three would open up more new caravan and tent camping sites, while stage four would include another amenities blocks and another block of new caravan or tent campsites.
Stage five would include a new mini golf course, pools, trampoline, BBQ, poolside cafe and a third amenities block.
The final stages would wrap the project up with more new caravan or tent sites, new cabins, and a fourth amenities block.
Each stage of the development is required to be added in sequential order.
Carlo Rd is also required to be upgraded to cater for increased traffic.
