Residents share the things they love most about living in this part of the world

Described by one resident as ‘paradise’, Gympie Times readers were asked to name the best thing about living in Gympie. Now we’ve compiled their reasons into a poll and are throwing the whole question open to a vote.

The most common answer to the question ‘what’s the best thing about living in Gympie was “community” or community spirit.

Sheree’s Hair and Beauty owner-operator, Sherree Williams, said she was grateful for the town caring for her.

“This amazing little town has looked after myself, my family and my small business for the last 40 years and many more to come,” she said.

The views surrounding the town, from the distant mountains to the grassy paddocks, was also a popular answer, as well as the close proximity to the Sunshine Coast, the affordability and the range of businesses in town.

“The beautiful surroundings and the people! It’s wonderful,” Jo King wrote.

Leanne Jones-Pfitzner also described the area as “warm and welcoming”.

“Hospitality is what drew me here 28 years ago and I still feel the same today,” she said.
